Busy Boss's Day + October Reflections

So the last time I posted was on Sunday--about two and a half weeks ago. I posted the sweet story of Margaret setting the table. That was the 12th. I knew I was going to the Neil Diamond concert on the 16th--that would be my next posting. Great! I was all set. Or so I thought...
Let me give you a quick run down of the past few weeks. I'll follow up with a Neil concert update in my next post.
October 16th
Boss's Day. One school gives me a sweet basket of finger puppets and every kind of Post-it imaginable. They also give me a kick-butt gift card to Despair Inc. Sweet! Someone at that school must read my blog... The other school purchased a Chipotle burrito for me and gave me a Visa gift card. Sweet! Waaaaaaay too nice...waaaaaaaaaay appreciated! I really like my two schools and I hope they know that.
Neil Diamond Concert. Yup, you're reading it right. I got to go to Neil Diamond the evening of Boss's Day. It actually wasn't that significant of a connection...but any day that you get surprises at work and then it's capped off by a concert that night isn't too bad.
Throw up. So I get home from the Neil Diamond concert at 11:15pm. By 11:45, we hear Margaret choking in her bedroom. I run in there and she's thrown up all over the place! Big, chunky, smelly throw up. Gross. The rest of the evening she throws up every 15 minutes from 11:45 until 3am. Around 3am the throwing up slows down to every 30 minutes. The last throw up was at 4:30am. Jeremy and I stayed up with her the whole night because she was throwing up so much and choking with each go-round. We CRASHED around 5am and didn't wake up until after 9am. Needless-to-say, we both stayed home from work on Friday, October 17th.
Tending to a sick kid...then I got it. It took a full two days for Margaret to get over her stomach bug. I went back to work on Monday...but started throwing up that night...and continued the rest of Tuesday. Thanks stomach bug!! I was sooooo sick in bed all day Tuesday. I finally threw up for the last time around 9pm on Tuesday evening and felt MUCH better after that. I went to work on Wednesday...but had brown pee for the WHOLE day. I guess I was maybe a little dehydrated? Hmmmm. I survived.
So, I went back to work with the brown pee exactly one week ago today. Sure, I've had a full week that I could have updated the blog...but...I've felt really pre-occupied lately and I just cannot make myself sit down to blog at the end of the day. It's not that I don't have things to say. I got things to say, people...just don't have the will power to say 'em.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, that's what's been going on. Has anyone else felt CRAZY busy this month? I like to describe October as a stressball in the world of public education. It's like everything for the beginning of the year is due this month...plus group meetings all start up in October, special projects are usually going on, and it just feels wacked-out. Here's a tiny example of the crazies...I sat down to address a discipline issue at 8:45 this morning...and at 11:45 I got a phone call from Jeremy. He asked how the day was going and it was only then that I looked at the clock to see that THREE HOURS had passed by and I was STILL handling discipline issues...not the same discipline issues, just all the new ones that kept coming in. That's very abnormal. We have well-behaved school...you can tell though, it's October...everyone feels it.
Anyway, faithful readers, I'll be getting you a Neil Diamond update soon. I've already saved the pertinent photos to the desktop...so...we'll get there. For now, though, I think I'm going to go wash my face, climb into bed, and either read a book or watch John and Kate Plus 8 TiVoed episodes.
Hope you appreciated the loooooong update, Shipley!
THANK you for the clarification. My mind immediately wondered what in the world kind of water you have...
But yes, it was brown. I come to work whether I have normal pee or not. That's how dedicated I am.
I feel ya! I'm ready for October to be over and I am extremely thankful that Halloween is on Friday this year!
It's also good to see that I'm not the only one that Shipley bugs about updating the blog.
Welcome back to the land of the living! Been worried about you. Sorry that you were sick. I think I had that same bug...it was not fun. BTW, I love that you have "brown pee" as a label...that made me giggle.
Glad you are alive and kickin'. Although, like the rest of the readers, I seem to have focused on the brown pee as well. I'm at a loss for words....
Rude, Angie. Although it does sound kind of whiney.
