Do you ever have those moments when you think of something and you decide that that was probably a helpful idea and you want to share it with others but you don't want to sound like a braggart? Also, is your life dream to help others be more organized but you don't want to force yourself onto people and give unsolicited organizational advice? If so, then you're probably an OC mom like me. No, not Orange County...I do not have the body nor the wallet to establish residency there. Obsessive Compulsive is the OC I'm referencing. So, since this is my blog and I'm trying to use it as a conduit to being a better mother (milestone-tracking, sharing thoughts about my kids, posting chronological pictures, etc), I'll share with you some of my OC helpful tips.
Here's the first one:
Keep a box of trash bags stashed next to/near each of your trash cans. I have 13 gallon-sized trashcans in most of my rooms (diaper pail, trashcan in kids' closets, my bathroom, under the kitchen sink, etc). I purchase a box of 13 gallon-sized trash bags for each of these rooms. Then, when I notice that one trash can is too full, I can immediately empty it and place a new trash bag in the can. I don't have to make extra trips to get new bags and I don't have to remember that the ____ trash can needs emptying. I can take care of the chore immediately and move on to the next task.
There...does everyone already do that or is that a helpful tip? Or, you can say it if you're thinking it, is that too anal-retentive for me to let America know this tip? Maybe I should keep it to myself?

I love that tip. I do have a similar system. I do not keep an entire box of trash bags, but I do keep extra bags in a nearby location so I can replace them easily.
Additionally, I like the tip. I am looking forward to tip #2. Do not let anyone stop you from doing this public service. After all, if it catches on, you could be featured on a television program of some sort. I'm thinking of the times before Oprah was weird and she had Dr. Phil on once per week. Maybe something like that for you to showcase your handy OC tips.
Yes, keep the tips coming!! This very non-OC mom needs all the help she can get. In fact, i would love to know what you do with dirty diapers. Because since Tate turned about 8 months old the Diaper Genie has been unable to keep a cork on the smell of a dirty diaper. So, this usually means changing Tate and then taking the smelly diaper all the way downstairs, outside the back door, through the grass (which means I have to put on shoes if I don't have them on already and who does when they are hanging out at home?) and around to the side of the house to drop the diaper in the trash bin. Then I come inside, wash my hands and run back up the stairs to make sure Tate has not done anything crazy in the time it took me to do all of that. There must be a better way!!! Help!
Yup! I do this to. :) I am all about saving as much time as posssible!
JENNY! Holy Crap. I hope you are squeezing your bun muscles while you have that workout in order to maximize your efforts! The Diaper Genie does not cork poo smells. We walk ours poos out to the garage--a much shorter trip. And if we're in a bind (baby acting crazy) we put them in the laundry room and run them out to the garage as soon as we get a sec and/or the smell wafts into the house. In your case...if possible...I'd get a trash can with a lid and place it in the garage or nearer your back door. It could be your poo-can. Rob's job to empty that sucker. Since I don't know the layout of your house I'm not sure if this would work or not. Just throwing it out there.
From one OC mom to another...good idea Sarah! My dad taught me to place a handful of bags in the bottom of the can, so when you pull the bag out to empty it, you can just grab another bag!
Keep those tips coming :)
